It was reported Tuesday that North Carolina State would interview Louisiana Tech head coach Sonny Dykes for its vacancy.
As it turns out, Dykes wasn’t individual on the Wolfpack’s to-do list that day. Reportedly.
According to TigerIllustrated.com, Clemson offensive coordinator Chad Morris interviewed for the NCSU job Wednesday as well. It’s believed, however, that Dykes, given his experience as a head coach, is the front-runner for a position that could be filled as early as this weekend.
Morris has spent the past two seasons running Clemson’s high-octane offense after spending one season as Tulsa’s coordinator. Those are his only three years of experience at the collegiate level as he had spent the previous 16 years as a head coach at a handful of Texas high schools.
After a brief flirtation with Ohio State’s Urban Meyer last December, Morris was given anew six-year contract that at $1.3 million annually made him the highest-paid assistant in the country.
