Felony assault charges reduced for Beavers trio

Over the weekend, three Oregon State players -- defensive end Rudolf Fifita, defensive tackle Mana Rosaand linebacker Dyllon Mafi -- were arrested on multiple felony assault charges related to a bar fight.

Per the Corvallis Gazette-Times, those charges have been downgraded to misdemeanors at an arraignment Monday, including fourth-degree assault and disorderly conduct. Additionally, Mafi, 20 is charged with using a fake ID. All three have been suspended indefinitely.

“It’s horrible,” coach Mike Riley said. “They are suspended right now and will remain that way. I haven’t had a chance to speak with them. That’s all I know right now.

“All these things are about choices. All the guys make their own beds, so to speak. Not too much good happens at that time of day.”

According to the affidavit filed, the players got into an argument with two other individuals. The dispute escalated and the three players allegedly punched the victims, who had “visible facial injuries.”

The three players are expected to appear in court on Jan. 10. Of the three suspended players, Fifita is the biggest loss along the defensive line with 5.5 tackles for loss. Rosa and Mafi have played in 12 and two games, respectively, this season.
