Arizona’s second-leading RB to transfer

As Ka’Deem Carey currently leads the nation in rushing yards (1,929) and yards per game (148.4), and as the true sophomore will return to Arizona for at least one more season, there likely would’ve been little room in the running back inn for the likes of Daniel Jenkins.

As a result, Jenkins has decided to take his leave and ply his football wares elsewhere.

UA head coach Rich Rodriguez confirmed Wednesday that Jenkins intends to transfer from Arizona to a to-be-determined school. Jenkins played his high school football in Moreno Valley, Calif., with the Arizona Daily Star writing that he may try to play closer to home.

Jenkins has already received his degree from UA, meaning he could transfer to another FBS school and play immediately as long as he enrolls in a grad program not offered at Arizona.

“He’s a good football player, and he’s going to make a decision on what’s best for him,” Rodriguez said according to the paper. “He’s done everything right by the university with the way he’s played, the way he’s graduated and the way he’s acted. … Just a great young man.”

Jenkins was third on the team in rushing behind Carey and quarterback Matt Scott (506) with a career-high 293 yards. As a four-star member of UA’s 2009 recruiting class, Jenkins was rated as the No. 12 all-purpose back in the country by Rivals.com.
