K-State’s leading picker a healthy go for Fiesta Bowl

When Kansas State takes the field for their Fiesta Bowl game with Oregon, the Wildcats should do so with one of their most veteran and productive members of their secondary at or near full health.

Safety Ty Zimmerman missed the final two games of regular season with what was described as a lower-leg injury. Zimmerman said over the weekend that he should be nearly 100-percent healthy for the Jan. 3 matchup with the Ducks.

“I feel great,” Zimmerman said according to the Dallas Morning News. “The biggest thing is mentally getting back into the game. I just have a greater appreciation for the game after sitting out for that time.”

In the 10 games in which Zimmerman started and played, he picked off five passes. That interception total tied him for the team lead.

The past three seasons, the redshirt junior has started 35 games.
