Gators O-lineman hit with grand theft of motor vehicle charge

Well then.

2013 is not getting off to a great start for Florida offensive lineman Jessamen Dunker. Per 247Sports, the redshirt freshman was booked into the Alachua County Jail this afternoon on charges of grand theft of a motor vehicle and a non-moving traffic violation.

University police tell 247Sports that Dunker was riding on a scooter that was reported stolen near Ben Hill Griffin Stadium.

“He was observed by one of our police officers riding on a scooter that did not have a tag attached to the scooter,” major Brad Barber told the site. “Traffic stop was initiated, and during that stop it was determined that he was driving on a license that had been suspended. He was aware of that. The scooter, in fact, was stolen.”

The grand theft auto charge is a third-degree felony and the traffic violation is a second-degree misdemeanor. Bond has not yet been set for Dunker.

Dunker did not play in 2012. Through a statement from Florida, head coach Will Muschamp has he is aware of the situation and that he will address it when he returns from a recruiting trip.
