Fourth person charged in attack on Montee Ball

From one bizarre story to dredging up another, another person has been charged in connection to an attack on former Wisconsin running back Montee Ball.

Per the Associated Press, a warrant was issued for the arrest of 27-year-old Karlis Griffin for substantial battery. The complaint states that Griffin stomped on Ball’s head during the attack. Three others have already been charged in the incident with two pleading guilty last month.

Griffin is not a University of Wisconsin student, according to the report.

Ball, a senior Doak Walker Award winner, suffered a concussion and a bruised jaw in the assault and missed the first week of preseason camp. The original police report stated Ball was attacked by five individuals. Ball has stated multiple times he did not know the identities of the assailants or why he was attacked. Police had looked into a possible precipitating event — a late July fight at a party involving two members of the Wisconsin football team — to see if there was a connection to the attack.

Ball finished the year with 1,730 yards and 21 touchdowns.
