The departures of Boise State and San Diego State -- or, rather, their decisions to stay in the Mountain West -- will, as one would imagine, have an immediate impact on the Big East’s schedule in 2013.
The 10-team football league will not have divisions in 2013 as was originally planned according to a report from ESPN’s Brett McMurphy. However, the conference will not play a nine-game, round robin schedule like the Big 12 does. Instead, each conference member will play eight league games and skip one other Big East member.
From McMurphy’s report:League members will play eight Big East games, facing every school except one. Big East teams that will not play each other in 2013: UCF and Cincinnati; UConn and Houston; Louisville and SMU; Memphis and Rutgers; and USF and Temple.

Instead of playing the Broncos and Aztecs, Temple plays Cincinnati and Louisville; SMU plays Rutgers and Cincinnati; Memphis plays UCF and UConn; Houston plays Cincinnati and Louisville; Louisville plays Temple and Houston; and Cincinnati plays SMU and Temple.

Rutgers is slated to join the Big Ten conference after a 27-month waiting period, but the Scarlet Knights could manage to get out of that waiting period with a higher exit fee.
The Big East will eventually have 12 teams again with the additions of East Carolina and Tulane (2014) and Navy (2015). Provided no one else leaves the league, of course.
