Ex-Buckeyes lineman lands at Colorado State

In January, it was announced by Ohio State that freshman offensive lineman Joey O’Connor would be transferring from the program to be closer to home.

That destination will be Colorado State, barring an unforeseen complication. While Rams coach Jim McElwain (pictured) did not directly address O’Connor’s addition on Signing Day, O’Connor basically did the job for him.

“When I decided I was going to transfer I knew that coach (Jim) McElwain had a good thing going on at Colorado State,” O’Connor said (via). “I talked to them a little bit once I was released I just knew that it was close to home and close to my support. It seemed like it was the right place to go.”

Per NCAA transfer rules, O’Connor will sit out a season before having three years of eligibility remaining. He was a four-star member of Urban Meyer’s first class at Ohio State.
