Pot charge dropped against Florida CB

Florida cornerback Loucheiz Purifoy found himself in some off-the-field trouble earlier this month when he arrested and charged with misdemeanor marijuana possession.

Fortunately for Purifoy, he has been cleared of his charge for a lack of evidence, according to the Gainesville Sun.

“He never had any marijuana on him, therefore he was not guilty of possession of marijuana,” Purifoy’s attorney told the paper.

The original story from 247Sports stated that Purifoy was a passenger in a vehicle stopped for a traffic violation. Once pulled over, another passenger attempted to throw a cannabis cigarette out the window. The officer on the scene also identified ”a baggie containing 2.5 grams of cannabis” near the car’s emergency brake.

Sounds as though the only thing Purifoy was guilty of was riding in the wrong car.

Purifoy finished the 2012 season 51 tackles and three forced fumbles.
