Boise State schedules Troy for future home-and-home

Hey, they can’t all be non-conference matchups with Florida State-type programs, right?

Anyway, Boise State announced Tuesday a future home-and-home series with Sun Belt Conference member Troy. The Trojans will visit Bronco Stadium on Sept. 2, 2017, with returning the favor with a trip to Veterans Memorial Stadium in Troy, Ala., on Sept. 1, 2018.

“This is another marquee matchup that is exciting for both our fans and our football program,” Troy athletic director John Hartwell said in a statement. “Boise State has been one of the most successful teams in the country recently and this series will further enhance Troy’s image in the national football spotlight. It is important to our football program to schedule these types of games and we will continue to seek out series like this and the one with Duke in the future.”

In the past few years, the likes of Mississippi State, Missouri and Oklahoma State have made the trek to Troy as non-conference opponents.

The 2017 game Boise State-Troy game will mark the first meeting between the two football programs.
