Back in December, C.J. Mosley announced that he would be eschewing an early jump to the NFL and returning for his senior season at Alabama.
A full-time return for the linebacker, is a little bit further down the road.
As the Tide opened spring practice Saturday, Mosley was one of a handful of players wearing a black, no-contact jersey. The player confirmed that he had undergone a previously unreported surgical procedure on his right shoulder shortly after the Tide won its third BCS title the past four years.
The surgery and subsequent rehab will keep Mosley, who said he played with the injury “the whole season,” in non-contact mode for the foreseeable future and possibly the entire spring, which ends April 20 with the annual spring game.
“I’m just working my way back into it,” Mosley told reporters following practice yesterday. “I just have to keep rehabbing every day, work on getting better, learning plays and helping people out.”
Mosley was a consensus All-American last season, leading the top-ranked Tide defense in tackles (107; next closest was Trey Depriest‘s 59) and second in tackles for loss (eight) and sacks (four).
