UGA’s Malcolm Mitchell to get knee ‘scoped

An injury earlier in the spring will force Malcolm Mitchell to undergo “the ‘scope,” Georgia announced Thursday.

The wide receiver suffered what was diagnosed as a torn meniscus in his knee during the Bulldogs’ scrimmage last Saturday. As a result, the school said in a release, Mitchell will undergo a knee arthroscopy on Friday morning.

While the surgical procedure will force Mitchell to miss Saturday’s spring game, he is expected to make a full recovery by the start of summer camp this August.

Last season, Mitchell was second on the team in both receptions (40) and receiving yards (572). He also led UGA with 16 kick returns for 360 yards (22.5 average) in 2012.
