‘Canes add ex-Okla. St. defensive lineman

Miami may have already started preparations in earnest for the 2013 season, but Al Golden is still not done adding future talent to his Hurricanes roster.

Thursday, the school announced, freshman Naim Mustafaa was officially added to the Hurricanes football program. It was reported late last month that the defensive lineman would be transferring from Oklahoma State.

Mustafaa will be forced to sit out the 2013 season to satisfy NCAA transfer rules, but will retain four years of eligibility beginning in 2014.

After enrolling early, Mustafaa participated in spring practice for the Cowboys. Exiting spring, he was listed No. 3 on the depth chart, a slotting that likely prompted a move away from Stillwater.

It had previously been reported that Mustafaa would be transferring to Hawaii. Why that move never came to fruition is unclear.

Mustafaa was a four-star member of OSU’s most recent class, rated as the No. 18 strongside defensive end by 247Sports.com and the No. 23 player in the state of Georgia. He was the highest-rated defensive member of OSU’s ’13 class.
