TCU will need all hands on deck for its season opener against LSU in a little over two weeks. Fortunately for the Horned Frogs, it appears they will have their best pair of hands in the passing game for the highly-anticipated matchup.
Thursday afternoon, head coach Gary Patterson confirmed that Brandon Carter suffered some type of hand injury during a scrimmage earlier in the week. It was serious enough that the wide receiver underwent surgery to repair the damage.
It wasn’t serious enough, though, for Patterson to have any doubts about the player’s availability for the Aug. 31 game in Arlington.
“He’ll be all right. It’s not a big deal,” Patterson said. “He’ll play in the ballgame. He’ll be practicing next week. When he can tolerate the pain and catch the ball … once he can do that, then he goes.”
Carter is TCU’s leading returning receiver, having finished second on the Horned Frogs last season in receptions (36), receiving yards (590) and receiving touchdowns (six). His 16.4 yards per catch was tops on the team.
