Buckeyes drop again in AP poll

Entering the 2013 season as the No. 2 team in the Associated Press’ preseason poll, Ohio State dropped one spot to No. 3 following a lackluster Week 1 win over Buffalo. After an impressive win in Week 2? Lather, rinse, repeat.

The Buckeyes again fell one spot in the eyes of AP voters, moving down to No. 4. OSU was replaced by Clemson, which gained one spot to settle in at No. 3.

Alabama (No. 1), Oregon (No. 2) and Stanford (No. 5) all held steady from a week ago.

Thanks to South Carolina’s loss to Georgia, Texas A&M (No. 6), Louisville (No. 7) and LSU (No. 8) each inched their way up a spot in the AP poll. The Bulldogs’ win pushed UGA up two to No. 9, while Florida State rounds out the Top 10 at No. 10, the same spot the Seminoles held a week ago.

Miami easily was the biggest mover of the week, rocketing all the way from unranked -- first team in the “Others Receiving Votes” category -- to No. 15. It’s Miami’s first appearance in the AP poll since November of 2010. Michigan was also the beneficiary of a win over a ranked team, coming in at No. 11 after heading into the weekend No. 17.

Conversely, Florida, which lost to the Hurricanes, and Notre Dame, which lost to the Wolverines, tumbled six and seven spots, respectively. The Gators now stand at No. 18, while the Irish are at No. 21.

Other than Miami, Ole Miss is the only other new team in the AP Top 25 (No. 25). Those new additions came at the expense of Texas (No. 15) and USC (No. 25).
