Texas Tech off to good start vs TCU

Texas Tech is wearing all gray uniforms for tonight’s Big 12 clash with TCU, which has nothing to do with the result of the game. Whether Texas Tech were wearing red, black, white or gray, it would still be a good start for the Red Raiders. Quarterback Baker Mayfield is off to a decent start against the Horned Frogs as Texas Tech is leading after one quarter of play, 10-0.

It did not take long to get going either, with Mayfield completing a short dump pass to Kenny Williams who took advantage of TCU’s defense doing their best Texas impression by missing tackle after tackle. Williams moved right down the sideline for a 50-yard touchdown.

Mayfield did make a mistake his next time out on the field, throwing an interception to stall another potential scoring drive. It was his first interception of the season and he had thrown eight touchdowns before having a pass picked off. Texas Tech’s defense came though in a big way though and has been controlling TCU’s offense early on. Texas Tech out-gained TCU in total offense, 150-60, with most of TCU’s yards coming on the drive that ended the first quarter.

Plenty of football to be played of course, but Texas Tech is off to a good start.
