Week 4, ESPN’s GameDay show headed to... Fargo?

You want to know how negative the perception is of the quality of games scheduled to be played in Week 4? Here’s your sign.

Saturday morning, ESPN‘s wildly popular College GameDay show announced Chris, Corso, Desmond, Herbie et al will be headed to Fargo, North Dakota, next Saturday and will be on campus for the Delaware State-North Dakota State game. That’s right, GameDay will originate from the grounds of an FCS football program.

This will mark the first time since 2008 (Florida A&M) that GameDay will originate from a non-FBS campus.

This is no slight to either school -- NDSU is the unanimous No. 1 team in FCS football and knocked off Kansas State in the opener -- but what does going to Fargo say about how far the Tennessee-Florida rivalry has fallen in the national consciousness?

In addition to the UT-UF game in Week 4, ESPN passed over, among others, Michigan State-Notre Dame and Arizona State-Stanford.

Now that I think about it, helluva selection, WWL. Give “the little guys” their due, especially a program like North Dakota State that impressed Bill Snyder enough he penned a letter to a Bison player congratulating him on the upset.
