Clemson OL suspended for Wake Forest game

Clemson coach Dabo Sweeney said on Sunday that reserve left tackle Isaiah Battle was suspended and would miss the Tigers’ upcoming game with Wake Forest on Saturday.

Battle was ejected for punching North Carolina State defensive back Jarvis Byrd last Thursday night. His upper cut knocked Byrd to the turf in the fourth quarter of Clemson’s 26-14 victory over the Wolfpack.

Swinney said Battle, a 6-foot-7, 275-pound sophomore who backs up starter Brandon Thomas, was wrong and will face punishment this week in practice. He also said Battle was remorseful for his actions.

Can Clemson beat Wake without its backup left tackle? It shouldn’t be a problem.
