A healthy Day likely a go for Irish

Just in time for what will arguably be its biggest test this season, Notre Dame should have its full complement of defensive linemen at its disposal this coming weekend.

Defensive end Sheldon Day suffered a sprained ankle in a Week 3 win over Purdue. He practiced very little the following week, and was sidelined for the win over Michigan State.

Day practiced all this week and, Irish head coach Brian Kelly said, will play against Oklahoma Saturday afternoon. Kelly seemed to be impressed with the sophomore starter’s recuperative powers.

“Anytime you’re coming back from an injury in the time frame that he has, you got to feel good that he’s been able to respond,” Kelly said.

After playing in 13 games as a true freshman last season, Day has started the the first three games this year. This season he has seven tackles and one tackle for loss.
