Miami loses Dorsett for at least a month

Unfortunately for Miami, the win over North Carolina came with a rather steep personnel cost.

Head coach Al Golden confirmed Friday afternoon that wide receiver Phillip Dorsett has been diagnosed a partially torn MCL. Dorsett suffered the injury late in the first quarter and did not return.

Because of the injury, Dorsett will miss anywhere from four to six weeks. The optimistic side of the prognosis would see the junior returning for either the Nov. 6 game against Duke or the matchup with Virginia a week later.

The fact that Dorsett will miss at least a month, though, is actually good news to the Hurricanes.

“Last night it did not look good,” Golden said of Dorsett’s injury. “We’re all relieved and I know he is. We’re all disappointed, but he’ll go through the adversity and be back. Certainly it could have been far worse.”

Dorsett is second on the team in receiving yards (272) and third in receptions (13).
