Keith Price’s status for UW vs. Cal uncertain

As Washington looks to bounce back from back-to-back-back losses, the Huskies may have to do so without its standout quarterback.

Keith Price aggravated a thumb injury during the Huskies’ latest loss, a 53-24 pasting at the hands of Arizona State. Price had originally injured the thumb on his (throwing) hand in the Oct. 5 loss to Stanford.

Asked Tuesday about Price’s availability for the Cal game Saturday, Steve Sarkisian said it’s unclear and likely won’t be known until game day approaches.

We don’t know yet,” the head coach said. “We’re going to monitor him throughout the week. Obviously, we’re hopeful that he can play. ... We’re hopeful Keith can go and is healthy enough to go, but that decision has yet to be made.”

If Price is unable to take the field, redshirt freshman Cyler Miles would get the call. Miles has seen action in three games this season, completing 5-of-8 passes for 57 yards and a touchdown. He’s also ran the ball seven times for 106 yards, including a 61-yarder in a Week 4 win over Idaho State.
