Future home-and-home between Okla. St., Pitt announced

Oklahoma unveiled Wednesday a future series with a member of a so-called Big Five conference. That same day, the Sooners’ in-state rival did the same.

Oklahoma State and Pittsburgh have reached an agreement on a future home-and-home series, the two schools announced. The Cowboys will host the Panthers at Boone Pickens Stadium Sept. 17, 2016, while Pitt will return the favor Sept. 16, 2017, at Heinz Field.

The 2016 game will serve as the first-ever meeting between the two football programs.

Pitt had previously announced a two-game renewal of their rivalry with Penn State that would include 2016 and 2017 games and which ultimately turned into a four-game renewal late last year. The series with Pitt is OSU’s first scheduled games those years against a Big Five conference member.
