O’Leary assuming UCF will have top deep threat Sat.

A scary scene developed in Orlando Saturday when, early in the fourth quarter, UCF wide receiver Breshad Perriman was taken off the field on a stretcher and to a local hospital following a vicious hit by a Houston defensive back.

As frightening as the hit looked, Perriman was released from the hospital very early Sunday morning, diagnosed with “just” a concussion. Subsequent baseline testing was positive, so much so that Perriman was back on the practice field Monday.

And positive enough that head coach George O’Leary is confident Perriman will be available for this Saturday’s game against Temple.

I would assume he’d be back this weekend,” O’Leary said according to the Orlando Sentinel. “Anytime you have a neck [or] head injury, it’s precautionary and they did what they had to get done to make sure it was nothing serious with him. … He was on the field today and hopefully he’ll be ready to go this week.”

Perriman leads the Knights in receiving yards with 567 yards and is tied for second in receptions with 27. His 21 yards per catch is easily tops on the team.
