Starting Orange H-back won’t play vs. FSU

The good news for Syracuse on the injury front is that its second-leading rusher and leading tackler have been expected to play in Saturday’s game against No. 2 Florida State and weren’t listed on the injury report.

The bad news, though, is that another starter was.

Starting H-back Brisly Estime, the school acknowledged, will be sidelined for the Seminoles game with what was officially labeled as an upper-body injury. On his radio show, however, head coach Scott Shafer said Estime broke a bone in his hand.

“It was difficult. I love the kid so much,” the coach said according to the Syracuse Post-Standard. “We’ll get him back as soon as possible.”

The true freshman has played in nine games this season, starting the last two. His 21 receptions are third on the team, while his 175 receiving yards are fifth.

Estime also has the Orange’s longest punt return of the season, a 43-yarder Oct. 19 against Georgia Tech.
