James White and Melvin Gordon must feel as though they are playing against a defense with six or seven players because there has been no stopping the Wisconsin running game in the first half against Indiana. White (176 yards) has already rushed for a season high with 76 yards and Gordon is likely heading to a season high after rushing for 120 yards in the first half as Wisconsin is blowing away Indiana, 27-0 at the half.
The success of the running game was highlighted by a 93-yard touchdown run straight up the middle of the field by White early in the game. After Indiana had downed a punt at the Wisconsin seven-yard line, White took just one play to break loose for the score. Gordon later rushed for a touchdown from a much shorter distance, one yard out.
Because Indiana has been unable to stop the Wisconsin running game the need for the Badgers to throw the football has not really been a concern, although Joel Stave has connected with Jared Abbrederis for a 32-yard touchdown in the second quarter to extend the lead.
The defense for Wisconsin has been just as dominant, holding the Hoosiers to just 84 yards of offense in the first half and forcing a pair of turnovers.
