Florida QB Tyler Murphy still day-to-day with shoulder injury

There’s a chance that Florida will be without quarterback Tyler Murphy for the second-straight game.

The junior sat out the Gators’ 19-14 loss to No. 12 South Carolina this past Saturday due to a shoulder injury that he first suffered against LSU in mid-October and re-aggravated against Vanderbilt a week ago.

“I’m still kind day-to-day ... still getting treatment,’' said Murphy, who has a shoulder injury that has been called a sprain but is raising suspicion it’s actually torn. “I’m hoping to get back out there, if not (Monday) then sometime for later on this week.”

Freshman Skyler Mornhinweg got the starting nod against the Gamecocks and acquitted himself decently well, completing 10 of 13 for 107 yards, with one interception. He’ll start this weekend against Georgia Southern if Murphy can’t go.

The Gators have lost five in a row and need to win their next two to become bowl eligible. In all likelihood, however, UF is about to finish with its first losing season since 1979.
