UCLA OL Simon Goines has surgery on leg

UCLA’s injury woes continued over the weekend as offensive lineman Simon Goines underwent surgery on a broken bone in his right leg.

The true sophomore started the Bruins’ first five games at left tackle before getting hurt. He returned against Arizona State this past Saturday but had to be helped off the field in the second quarter.

Wide receivers Grayson Mazzone and Darren Andrews are also out for the season after getting hurt against the Sun Devils.

Injuries to the offensive line have been a big problem for UCLA this fall. Right tackle Torian White is also out for the year, which means the Bruins have been forced to start three true freshman in their front five. It’s no wonder that quarterback Brett Hundley has been sacked a Pac-12-high 2.91 times per game this year.

And it won’t get any easier with USC’s tough front seven next up on the schedule.
