Marcus Mariota says he’ll start for Ducks vs. Oregon State

Oregon quarterback Marcus Mariota said he’ll play against Oregon State on Friday after passing the requisite concussion tests.

Mariota had to be helped off the field in the fourth quarter of Oregon’s ugly 42-16 loss at Arizona on Saturday, though after the game he said he wasn’t sure if he suffered a concussion. Mariota’s head collided with the knee of an Arizona defender he was trying to tackle after throwing an interception.

A Heisman favorite only three weeks ago, Mariota hadn’t been picked off this season until throwing two interceptions on Saturday. And while he’s quarterbacked two losses in Oregon’s last three games, having him for the Civil War on Friday certainly helps the Ducks, to say the least.

Oregon hasn’t lost to Oregon State since 2007, and has won 13 of the last 20 meetings against their in-state rival.
