Texas AD Patterson: Excited to be working with Mack Brown

At a Texas football banquet Friday night, new athletic director Steve Patterson took some time to make a statement in addressing the football players, staff and more. Going against the narrative, at least for now, Patterson expressed some excitement in getting a chance to work with football head coach Mack Brown.

Steve Patterson just stated: “I’m excited to be working with someone like Mack Brown.”

Now, what exactly does that mean? That is what will be analyzed over and over again until there is some more clarity. Patterson did not say Brown will be the head coach in 2014, but he did not say he will not be either. He simply said he is excited to work with Brown, and to do so for years to come.

The scenario is still in play for Brown to serve another role within the administration or leadership that does not involve being the football coach, but for now Brown is the head coach and there is nothing concrete to suggest otherwise just yet.

The drama continues.
