Washington assistant says alleged NCAA violations are “untrue attacks”

Washington assistant coach Tosh Lupoi is at the center of an NCAA investigation regarding potential recruiting violations. As you might expect, Lupoi says there is nothing to see here.

According to the Associated Press, Lupoi says the allegations of breaking NCAA rules are “untrue attacks.” Lupoi is being investigated for possible paying for tutoring and an online class for a recruit. The Los Angeles Times first reported the alleged violations. Lupoi was likely to be joining the coaching staff at USC with new head coach Steve Sarkisian, the former head coach at Washington.

This is exactly the sort of mess USC cannot afford to get caught up with in any capacity. Already sifting through their own mess with their football program, the last thing the Trojans need now is any coach with any ties to a potential violation. Whether Lupoi is guilty of any violation or not, the chances he is considered for a position on the football staff now are not great.
