Texas A&M LB Darian Claiborne arrested on drug charges

Texas A&M linebacker Darian Claiborne was arrested on Sunday on two drug possession charges, according to a report from the Associated Press.

Claiborne was arrested Sunday on charges of possession of a dangerous drug and possession of less than two ounces of marijuana, according to the Brazos County Jail website.

He was arrested at about 3 p.m. and released less than two hours later after posting $6,000 bond.

The redshirt freshman is tied for the team lead with 89 tackles. He also has seven tackles for losses and two forced fumbles. For his efforts, he was named to the All-SEC freshman squad.

The Aggies will take on Duke in the Chick-Fil-A Bowl on Dec. 31. There’s no word yet from A&M on Claiborne’s status with the team.

A defense that struggled for much of the season would have a hard time without Claiborne, should he get suspended for this incident.
