Report: DE LaMichael Fanning transferring from Alabama

Alabama defensive end LaMichael Fanning, suspended since mid-season, has decided to leave the Crimson Tide program and transfer to Jacksonville State, according to a report on Monday from AL.com.

The redshirt sophomore saw little playing time as a reserve this fall, collecting three tackles in all. He was suspended for a violation of team rules in late October. He has not practiced with the team since.

Because Jacksonville State is an FCS program, Fanning will be eligible to play right away. He’s the second Tide player in recent months to join the Gamecocks, the other being offensive lineman Caleb Gulledge.
