Cal TE Richard Rodgers diving into NFL draft pool

For the second time this week, Cal is losing a player to early entry into the NFL draft.

The university has confirmed that tight end Richard Rodgers has decided to leave collegiate eligibility on the table and make himself available for the May draft. The Contra Costa Times is reporting that Rodgers has already signed with an agent, meaning he’s done collegiately even if he were to change his mind prior to the mid-January declaration deadline.

This season, Rodgers is third on the team in receptions (39) and receiving yards (608). The 6-4, 245-pound junior finishes his Bears career with 59 catches for 896 yards and two touchdowns.

Christmas Eve, Cal cornerback Kameron Jackson surprised many (most) by announcing his intention to forego another season in Berkeley for the NFL.
