Report: Ohio State loses Shazier to NFL draft, keeps Miller and Heuerman

Sports Illustrated reported on Saturday that Ohio State All-American linebacker Ryan Shazier will skip his final year of eligibility and make himself available to the NFL draft.

On the other hand, quarterback Braxton Miller and tight end Jeff Heuerman will both return for their senior seasons.

Shazier led the Buckeyes with 144 tackles, including 23.5 for loss, seven sacks and four forced fumbles.

As much as Ohio State will miss Shazier, getting Miller back is bigger news. The junior missed the better part of three games this year yet still passed for 2,094 yards and 24 touchdowns and rushed for 1,068 yards and 12 scores.

His return means he’ll be considered one of the front runners for the 2014 Heisman Trophy.

Heuerman had a breakout season for the Buckeyes, catching 26 passes for 466 yards and four scores.
