Denzel Perryman returning to ‘Canes for senior season

Beating back against the tide of players leaving school early for the NFL, Miami’s 2014 defense will benefit from the return of one of its top performers this past season.

In a statement released through The U, linebacker Denzel Perryman confirmed that he will be returning to the Hurricanes for his senior season. Perryman described it as the best decision for both himself personally and his family.

“I decided to stay because it is the best decision for me and my family,” Perryman said. “Ever since Coach [Al] Golden got here, I feel like this program is moving forward and will continue to rise under his direction.

“This coaching staff is dedicated to player development and getting us better. I’ve grown as a player and person each year thanks to them.”

In 2013, Perryman led the ‘Canes in tackles with 108. He was named first-team All-ACC by both the coaches and the media.
