Keenan McCardell one of three coaches added to Terps’ staff

A former NFL Pro Bowler and a long-time assistant at that level of football were two of the three assistants added to Randy Edsall‘s coaching staff, the school announced in a press release Thursday afternoon.

Keenan McCardell (wide receivers), Dave DeGuglielmo (offensive line), and Chad Wilt (defensive line) were the three additions revealed by the football program.

McCardell was a four-time Pro Bowl receiver during his 17-year NFL playing career. Upon retiring after the 2007 season, McCardell, who played his college ball at UNLV, spent two seasons (2010-11) as receivers coach with the Washington Redskins. He’s never been an assistant at the collegiate level.

The last 10 years of DeGuglielmo’s coaching had been spent at the NFL level, coming to an end when he was fired as the New York Jets’ line coach following the 2012 season. DeGuglielmo last coached in the college game in 2002, the end of a three-year stint as South Carolina’s line coach.

The final hire, Wilt, spent the past three seasons as defensive line coach and recruiting coordinator at Ball State. For those interested, Wilt played collegiately at Taylor University (no relation).
