Alabama freshman DB Tony Brown arrested on Saturday night

Alabama freshman cornerback Tony Brown, who enrolled in school in January, was arrested on Saturday night on charges of failure to obey and resisting arrest, TideSports.com reported on Sunday.

Bail was set at $1,500.

Brown, a 5-star recruit from Beaumont, Texas, is one of the top prospects in the class of 2014 and also a premier hurdler in track (his 13.38 in the 110-meter high hurdles tied for the top prep time in the nation). At 6-foot-0, 182 pounds, he has the speed and athleticism to be an all-star cornerback for the Tide. He chose Alabama over Texas, Texas A&M and LSU.

It’s not a great start to his career, that’s for sure. And he has yet to face the wrath of Nick Saban, last seen doing the electric slide at a recruit’s house.

UPDATE: Alabama said Saban was aware of the situation and “will handle it appropriately once he has a chance to review all of the information.”
