Starting USF corner hit with felony weed charge

Alabama wasn’t the only FBS program forced to deal with an off-field legal issue over the weekend.

According to the Tampa Bay Times, USF cornerback Kenneth Durden was arrested late Saturday night and charged with one count of cannabis possession. The charge, which is a third-degree felony, came after police were called to Durden’s on-campus residence “in response to a complaint of possible drug use,” the paper wrote.

Officer Michael Tinney detected an odor of cannabis and was allowed entry by Durden and his roommate, whose name was redacted from the affidavit.

Durden acknowledged to having the substance in his room. He produced a clear bag of cannabis later weighed at 21.7 grams.

The school is aware of Durden’s arrest and is “in the process of collecting information,” a spokesperson told the Times.

In 2013, Durden started 11 games in the secondary for the Bulls.
