Indiana has promoted assistant coach Kevin Johns to fill its newly-vacant offensive coordinator position, head coach Kevin Wilson announced on Tuesday.
The vacancy was created when Seth Littrell left to take the same position at North Carolina.
Johns was co-offensive coordinator with Littrell last season and also coached quarterbacks and wide receiver, so he’s very familiar with the Hoosiers’ scheme. Nonetheless, Wilson will continue to be a big influence on the offense and, in essence, is probably its de facto coordinator.
Wilson also moved to remedy issues with the Indiana defense, hiring Bowling Green defensive line coach Larry McDaniel, who will take over for the recently-fired Jon Fabris.
