Report: Notre Dame signs $90 million deal with Under Armour

Notre Dame and Under Armour announced on Tuesday that they have agreed to a shoe and apparel contract that is the most valuable in college sports history. It effectively ends Notre Dame’s 17-year association with Adidas.

While neither the Irish or UA will divulge the terms of the deal, ESPN’s sources claim its value is worth more than $90 million, topping the $82 million contract signed by Michigan with Adidas.

Notre Dame could potentially make even more from the deal, as it will take some of the payment in the form of company stock.

“We love the company we are partnering with, and we can’t wait to grow with them,” Notre Dame athletic director Jack Swarbrick said. “We don’t believe we’re partnering with a $2 billion company. We’re partnering with a $20 billion company.”

Among the stipulations in the contract is that UA will not be able to install signage at Notre Dame Stadium, keeping the storied venue free of advertising.

Nonetheless, college football’s rich continue to get richer. This deal should assure that the Irish stay relevant for the foreseeable future.
