The Nkemdiche brothers are striking back in court. The two Ole Miss players, Denzel Nkemdiche and Robert Nkemdiche, have filed a counter-suit seeking $2 million according to a report by The Clarion Ledger.
The lawsuit is a counter to a lawsuit originally filed by Matthew Baird. Baird accuses the Nkemdiche brothers of being a part of a group of individuals who attacked him outside of a fraternity house in mid-February 2013. The Nkemdiches say Baird’s statements are “untrue and false statements.”
“Nkemdiche would state and show that he suffered and sustained harm, injuries, damages, and/or losses as a result of the false and defamatory statements made by plaintiff/counter-defendant Matthew Baird and that, therefore, Nkemdiche is entitled to a judgement against (Baird) for compensatory damages in an amount to be determined by the jury,” the lawsuit filed by each brother reads in separate statements.
Ole Miss has suspended Denzel Nkemdiche for the season opener against Boise State. Robert Nkemdiche remains in good standing on the football program at this time.
