Freak accident to keep Florida State RB Dalvin Cook out for spring practice

Florida State freshman running back Dalvin Cook fell up a flight of stairs in the team’s weight room, suffering a shoulder injury in the process that’ll keep him sidelined for spring practice.

Cook, a five-star recruit who enrolled early at Florida State in January, injured his labrum when he fell awkwardly on the steps, according to the Orlando Sentinel. It’s a shame -- here’s a kid who passed on his last semester of high school and moved from Miami to Tallahassee with the intention of participating in spring practice, and now can’t.

Ranked by Rivals as the 18th-best player in the recruiting class of 2014, the 2nd-best running back and third-best player in Florida, Cook chose the ‘Noles over offers from Auburn, Florida, LSU, Miami, Texas and USC, among others.

Coach Jimbo Fisher said he expects Cook to be ready to go for the regular season in five and a half months.
