Once again, spring practice has (reportedly) cost an FBS program a player who was expected to make a significant contribution this coming season.
This time around it’s Minnesota on the losing end, with the Minneapolis Star-Tribune, citing a source familiar with the situation, reporting that linebacker Cody Poock tore an ACL during practice this past week. Poock reportedly suffered the injury during Saturday’s session.
While the team is in the process of making a final diagnosis as to the severity of the injury, the Star-Tribune writes that “Coach Jerry Kill [is] expected to address the injury with the media after Tuesday’s practice.”
On his Twitter account Sunday, Poock indicated he already knows the severity of the issue involving his right knee.

If the diagnosis is indeed an ACL tear, it’s expected Poock will be sidelined for at least the first month of thew 2014 season.
Poock transferred to the Gophers after spending last season at Iowa Western Community College. He had been working with the first-team defense since the start of spring practice.
