College Football Playoff contenders given betting odds to participate

Florida State, Alabama, Oregon and Auburn are among the favorites to participate in the College Football Playoff in 2014, according to one sports book. The numbers to determine the top playoff contenders were released by Bovada were released Wednesday, with the defending national champions looking to be the biggest lock to make the new four-team playoff.

Here are the top odds to make the College Football Playoff, as reported by Al.com;

  • Florida State: 2/7 to make, 9/4 to miss


  • Alabama: 5/4 to make, 20/33 to miss


  • Oregon: 10/11 to make, 10/13 to miss


  • Ohio State: 20/21 to make, 20/23 to miss


  • Auburn: 7/4 to make, 5/13 to miss


  • LSU: 23/10 to make, 5/18 to miss


  • UCLA: 12/5 to make, 5/19 to miss


  • Michigan State: 9/4 to make, 2/7 to miss

Not listed above is Oklahoma, but the Sooners were given the same odds to be selected for the playoff as Auburn according to Bovada. Not to be forgotten, Las Vegas Superbook has also updated the national championship odds. Per Adam Kramer of Bleacher Report;

Florida State remained the favorite, opening at 4/1 earlier this month on the same sports book. Oregon was previously 5/1, Alabama was 6/1, Ohio State was 10/1 and Auburn and Oklahoma were each 12/1.

Of course, these numbers are purely for entertainment purposes.
