Oklahoma State’s Devon Thomas charged with three felonies

The charges against Oklahoma State running back Devon Thomas are a little heavier than previously reported. It was reported last week Thomas was charged with two felonies, including an intent to kill, following an arrest from an armed robbery last week. Tulsa World is now reporting Thomas actually faces three felony charges.

Thomas is scheduled to be arraigned today. The charges previously reported were for shooting with intent to kill and for robbery with a firearm. The latest felony added to the charges is for first-degree burglary.

According to police reports, as documented by Tulsa World, Thomas is accused of being a part of a group of intruders breaking into a home, forcing a person into a bedroom while threatening to shoot while waiting for someone else to arrive at the home so they could rob him. The victim told police the men took marijuana, money, shoes and other clothing. The victim identified the intruders and claimed to know each of them for years. Thomas, according to the victim, was the only one carrying a gun.

Thomas enrolled at Oklahoma State this spring in order to practice with the Cowboys and get a jump on his career this fall. With this legal matter standing in the way, the future of Thomas at Oklahoma State remains foggy at best. For now, the university is allowing the legal process to play out, which is standard protocol under these circumstances for any program. If Thomas is found guilty of any of these charges, his football status will be the least of his worries.
