Breaking the Law: Iowa senior DB arrested

Iowa senior defensive back Nico Law was arrested late Friday night for a disorderly conduct misdemeanor. He has already been released from jail. According to early reports, Law was arrested for fighting, although the details of the incident have been somewhat light for the time being.

“I was disappointed to hear of the incident involving Nico,” Iowa head coach Kirk Ferentz said in a released statement. “We will work with authorities in gathering the facts. Nico will go through the UI Student-Athlete Code of Conduct process.”

There is no update on any potential changes in Law’s status with the Hawkeyes, although it is also too early for Iowa to make any hard decisions one way or the other. Iowa will surely allow the legal process to play out to any extent it has to, in addition to any investigation needed by Iowa internally. With this being nothing more than a misdemeanor, right now it is not likely this will cost Law a spot on the roster this fall, although it could mean he will have to do a little more in order to earn a starting spot at defensive back.
