Starting Orange D-lineman undergoes minor surgery

It appears Syracuse has dodged what would’ve been a very significant blow to its defensive line.

Eric Crume confirmed to the Syracuse Post-Standard Tuesday night that he recently underwent surgery to repair an issue in his left knee. The defensive tackle, however, described the surgery as minor in nature as he had a small piece of meniscus removed from the joint.

Crume, a senior, stated that he’ll be able to resume summer workouts in no more than three weeks. Barring a setback, the procedure and subsequent rehab shouldn’t have any impact on the player’s availability for the start of summer camp in a little over a month.

Last season, Crume accounted for five tackles for loss and a pair of sacks as he started all 13 games for the Orange. Crume didn’t participate in spring practice last year because of offseason shoulder surgery.
