Shoulder surgery cost Greg Daniels all of spring practice earlier this year. Now, a medical procedure a few feet further south will cost the tight end the remainder of summer camp as well as, it appears, a sizable chunk of the 2014 season as well.
Texas head coach Charlie Strong has confirmed that Daniels will be forced to undergo arthroscopic surgery on one of his knees. The specific nature of the injury wasn’t revealed, nor was a timeline given.
Speculation, though, is that the senior could miss up to eight weeks. If that’s the case, Daniels would miss the first five games of the 2014 season, not coming back until the Oct. 11 game against Oklahoma. Of course, that’s the worst-case scenario at the moment.
While Daniels had just three catches last season, SBNation.com writes, “he was a critical component of the successful Longhorn rush attack.” He has 14 starts in his career, including six in 2013.
