Mariota still Bovada’s Heisman favorite as Winston’s odds fall

For whatever reason, degenerates aren’t very high on how Jameis Winston has started the 2014 season.

In the latest set of odds released by Bovada.lv, and as he was earlier this month, Oregon quarterback Marcus Mariota is the favorite to win the 2014 Heisman Trophy at the same 11/2 odds. Those were the same odds as Winston’s a week ago; however, the Florida State quarterback is now at 15/2.

Through two games this season, Winston has completed 70 percent of his passes for 626 yards, three touchdowns and two interceptions. He also has a rushing touchdown. Last season after two games of what would turn out to be a Heisman-winning season, Winston was completing almost 89 percent of his passes; had thrown for 580 yards; produced eight total touchdowns (six passing, two rushing); and thrown just one interception.

Winston is also now behind Georgia’s Todd Gurley (7/1) in Bovada‘s odds.

Everett Golson, the Notre Dame quarterback who many are trumpeting as a dark-horse Heisman candidate, has climbed from 20/1 to 16/1. On the other hand, Wisconsin running back Melvin Gordon, one of a handful of preseason favorites, saw his odds tumble from 10/1 to 18/1 after a rough last game and a half. Michigan State quarterback Connor Cook also took a hit after the loss to Oregon, dropping from 25/1 to 40/1.
