UK’s Lloyd Tubman suspended after being accused of sexual assault

For the second time this week, a player in the SEC has been accused of a very serious crime against a woman. This time, though, the player is already working his way through the legal process.

According to multiple media outlets, true freshman Lloyd Tubman is facing charges after being accused of sexual assault. On the Lexington-Fayette County Detention Center’s website, Tubman is listed as a current inmate, with the type of offense described as “RAPE 1st.”

Tubman’s arrest occurred at some point earlier today. No bond is currently listed.

As a result of the situation, UK announced that Tubman has been indefinitely suspended from the football program.

“Obviously, I’m very concerned about the allegations and all parties involved,” head coach Mark Stoops said in a statement released by the school. “We’re working extremely hard to develop quality young men on and off the field. We will continue to cooperate with the local and campus authorities while the process takes its course.”

Kentucky.com wrote that Tubman “was accused in the incident on Thursday of sexually assaulting a female student at 11:45 a.m. in a residence hall.”

Tubman has not recorded any statistics this season for the Wildcats as a true freshman. He was a three-star member of UK’s 2014 recruiting class.
